The case owner of the ALLIANCE case smart bloom explains in the Polish television the increased level of cyanobacteria in the coast of the Baltic Sea
Justyna Kobos representing the ALLIANCE case “bloom” was interviewed by the Polish TV channel TVN about the situation of cyanobacteria in the Baltic Sea.
The topic of cyanobacteria has been lately very popular in Polish news due to closed beaches on the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea. The closure is connected to the increased level of cyanobacteria in the water. Cyanobacteria as the only photosynthetic prokaryotes able to produce oxygen has indeed a very promising potential in the field of biotechnology (read more about the smart bloom case idea), however currently they appeared to broader public in a more negative sense causing bathing prohibition at the Baltic beaches in Poland during the holiday season. In the interview (in Polish) Justyna Kobos explains the potential of cyanobacteria and names the reasons why the temporary bathing prohibition is necessary.
