SUBMARINER Network at European Maritime Day 2016
The SUBMARINER Network was well represented at this year's biggest event in the maritime calendar, the European Maritime Day (EMD) in Turku, Finland, on 18-19 May. Over 1000 participants engaged in the event which was dedicated to the topic "Investing in competitive blue growth - smart and sustainable solutions".
SUBMARINER Network’s managing director Angela Schultz-Zehden presented the network, our roadmap and our current project initiatives in a thematic session on investing in blue growth. Financial manager Carsten Beyer, meanwhile, was on the panel of the stakeholder workshop “Blue growth value chains and smart specialisation”.
In the networking village, our network's exhibition booth was jointly hosting our three current Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance, Baltic Blue Growth and Smart Blue Regions. The stand also provided excellent opportunities for discussion cooperation possibilities with maritime stakeholders from wider Europe. Last but not least, the European Maritime Day also marked the launch of our latest publication – the SUBMARINER Roadmap Status Report.
