Algae on the school timetable
School pupils in Denmark can expect to be educated in algae cultivation and algal technology from the beginning of next term. Algae research indicates huge potential and this could be secured by amongst other things encouraging children’s interest in algae already at school.
The newly developed educational material comes from the experimental project “Algae Innovation Workshop” in which AgroTech, the national center for Nature, Technology and Health education Zealand, Technical College Lolland-Falster and Business Lolland-Falster are collaborating.
The aim of the project is to secure knowledge of algae cultivation and technology in educational and informative material, as well as creating a practical experience-based program, for both school pupils and (business) guests. The project is supported with funds from the Danish Rural Districts Fund which is administered by the Danish Ministry for Towns, Buildings and Rural Districts.
